I'm constantly on the receiving end of ideas - from wherever they come into being: the beyond, "the Muse," as Steven Pressfield calls it. Others talk of harnessing their inspiration from some "astral plane" - but the premise is the same. We are the conduit for new and fresh ideas. Capturing them before they disappear back into the ether is the charge. Many times, they strike at will, when I'm not sitting at my desk or with a pen in hand. Losing them is a reality we can face - as filmmaker David Lynch describes it, "it's money in the bank - safety - to write it down."
I believe in having the right tools for every task. While I love my Field Journal Wallet - it has found its ideal service location in my truck and Landcruiser (bonus points for the pockets that safely hold my insurance card + registration).
More and more, I find myself coming back to the need for JUST the Field Notes in my EDC. But those analog idea repositories wear hard when carried in the back pocket - thus called for the need for creating something new and supremely simple at the work bench: The Field Journal Sleeve.
I've found that for the best chance in having fleeting ideas stay put for me, redundancy is key. I simply need more Field Notes in the places where I frequent the most: my truck, my travel bag, my bedside table ... and, now with the Field Journal Sleeve, my pocket.
